What ChangeHunt will not do
- It will not hand you a single dollar figure. Every value is a range, because that is the honest shape of an estimate.
- It will not invent a precise identification. A low confidence result shows candidates and a manual search, never a confident-sounding guess it doesn't actually have.
- It will not call itself a grading service. Grade bands are plain-language wear descriptions, not certified or numeric grades, and ChangeHunt is not affiliated with PCGS or NGC.
- It will not keep your coin photos. A photo is sent to be identified and is not retained afterward. There is no account and no login.
Questions
Where do the value ranges come from?
From curated reference bands built from sources we can cite, or from active marketplace listings when that feature is enabled — asking prices, never PCGS, NGC or Greysheet price guides. Every range is labeled with where it came from.
Is this an appraisal?
No, and the app never says it is. ChangeHunt is a rough estimate tool for curiosity and sorting. For anything you plan to sell or insure, see a professional numismatist or grading service.
What does the confidence level mean?
High means the design and date are both clearly legible. Medium means the design is clear but the date or mint mark isn't. Low means ChangeHunt isn't sure — it shows up to three possible matches and a manual search instead of guessing.
Does it work without a connection?
Identifying a new coin needs a connection. A coin you've already scanned stays in your on-device history, so you can look at it anytime.
How do I cancel a subscription?
In the iPhone Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops any future charge. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. ChangeHunt is iPhone-only today.
